27 processions taken out in Kargil
Kargil, July 17: Youm-e-Ashura was observed on Wednesday with reverence and religious fervour throughout the Kargil district of Ladakh to pay tributes to Imam Husain (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and his companions for their supreme sacrifice in Karbala.
Thousands of people gathered in Kargil town to participate in the procession.
These processions were organised by Anjuman-e-Jami’at e Isna Ashariya and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust.
People were beating their chests and reciting lamentations about Imam Husain (AS) and his companion.
The mourners, expressing their grief, recited Noha and performed Zanjeer Zani.
Passing through the Main Bazaar Kargil, the procession by noon converged at Houza Elmiyah Asna Asharia Kargil.
The processions reached Inqilab Manzil where it concluded with the recitation of Ziyarat Ashura and a main sermon by President JUIAK, Ladakh Hojjatul Islam Sheikh Nazir-ul-Mehdi Muhammadi.
In his sermon, Sheikh Nazir-ul-Mehdi Muhammadi illuminated the philosophy of Ashura, delivered a brief Masayib, and prayed for harmony and peace.
He also thanked the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir for allowing the Muharram procession in Srinagar on 8th Muharram.
Over 27 mourning processions from various villages and town areas joined to remember the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs of Karbala in Kargil.
Sheikh Nazir also appealed to the LG Ladakh to review the Muharram arrangements for next year and allocate funds.
He suggested that a meeting should be chaired by the LG Ladakh and that funds be allocated at the UT level for Muharram, given its significance to more than half the population of UT Ladakh.
General Secretary of Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Islamia School Kargil, Hojjatul Islam Sheikh Ibrahim Khalili thanked the district administration, Health Department, Ladakh Police, volunteers, and concerned departments for their cooperation on Ashura.
He particularly appreciated the efforts of the Municipal Committee Kargil for their special consideration for hygiene during the procession by appointing officers and volunteers to ensure cleanliness.
