24-hour traffic suspension on Srinagar-Jammu NH today
Ramban, Apr 26: Traffic will remain completely suspended between the Nashri and Navyug Tunnel stretch of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway for 24 hours, beginning at 8 am on April 27, for widening of damaged road and undertaking necessary repairs.
Traffic-haltage alert was issued by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban, Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary on Saturday through a social media post on X.
ìOrder issued for halting of traffic on NH-44 in district Ramban for widening of damaged road-portion from 8 am on April 27, 2025 (Sunday) to 8 am on April 28, 2025 (Monday). Plan your travel accordingly, DC Ramban alerted on ëXí along with an order issued by the office of District Magistrate Ramban signed by the Additional District Magistrate Ramban.
Based on the recommendation of Project Director National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), PIU Ramban, to ensure safety and well-being of general populace, travellers and drivers, District Magistrate Ramban, vide order no ADMR/97-110 dated April 26, 2025, accorded permission (to NHAI) for widening of damaged road and undertake necessary repairs, in strict adherence to the conditions outlined in the communication from the Project Director, NHAI, PIU Ramban.
In view of this, the traffic will remain suspended between Nashri and Navyug tunnel from 8 am on April 27 to 8 am on April 28, 2025,î it was directed.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban and SSP Traffic, NHWs have been directed to implement the (traffic haltage) order in letter and spirit.
As per the advisory issued by the Traffic department, the movement of vehicles would be stopped by Saturday evening from Qazigund and Udhampur.
No movement of any kind of vehicle will be allowed after 5 pm on April 26, 2025, from Qazigund towards Jammu and from Udhampur towards Srinagar. Load carrier operators carrying fresh, perishable commodities or livestock have been advised to load their vehicles accordingly,î traffic advisory said.
