23 post of paramedical, nursing staff vacant in Ganderbal’s Wakura medical block

Ganderbal, Nov 14: At least 23 posts of paramedics and nursing staff are vacant in Ganderbal’s Wakura medical block.

The figures shared by the Health Department in response to an RTI revealed that 20 posts of paramedical, technical, and nursing staff were lying vacant in Wakura block in Ganderbal district.

As per the official figures, a post of Community Health Officer (CHO), two posts of X-ray technicians, two pharmacists, one health educator, two staff nurses, two health inspectors, a lab technician, a dental technician, a Basic Health Worker (BHW), a nursing orderly, six sanitation workers, and two chowkidars are lying vacant.

Sources said that the shortage of such paramedical and nursing staff was affecting the healthcare facilities and sanitation in government hospitals.

Locals said that the non-availability of the required staff in health centres and other health facilities were affecting proper patient care services and causing inconvenience to the people particularly patients.

They said that the rural healthcare centres were facing shortage of required medical, paramedical, and nursing staff and urged the administration to look into the matter and redress the issue.
