220 bags of sub-standard fertiliser seized in Sopore

Sopore, Jan 1: Agriculture Department on Monday seized 220 bags of organic fertilisers which were found without specifications on the bags in north Kashmir's Sopore.

Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Muhammad Iqbal, along with a Law Enforcement team carried out the raid at Bohripora area of Sopore and seized the spurious fertiliser while monitoring and following the input in the area.

“We have seized 220 bags of spurious organic fertiliser from a shop which was delivered from Rajasthan. The inspections are being conducted across different districts in Kashmir to disallow the sale and marketing of substandard supplies,” Director Agriculture said.

The Director said the department will not tolerate and allow any kind of substandard fertilisers to the Valley damaging the agriculture and horticulture industry. He said that they have issued strict instructions in this regard.
