22 candidates in electoral fray in Jammu parliamentary constituency

Jammu, Apr 25:  Out of 22 candidates in the electoral fray, twelve are independent candidates. However, the constituency is to witness a straight contest between Bharatiya Janata Party’s Jugal Kishore Sharma and Congress’ Raman Bhalla.

MAJOR ELECTORAL ISSUES

BJP, like in Udhampur constituency, in Jammu parliamentary constituency also focussed on development initiatives post Art 370. It is heavily relying on the persona of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reclaim this seat for the third time.

For opposition, main issues were “unemployment; inflation; loss of J&K’s identity, statehood, citizens’ exclusive rights to jobs and lands after abrogation of Article 370.” In Jammu city, Congress also raked up the smart meter issue to win people’s support.
