2 women among 4 nabbed in Jammu, Samba
Jammu, Dec 6: Four narcotics peddlers including two women have been arrested by Jammu and Kashmir police in Samba and Jammu districts.
The arrested, police said, have been made in intensified drive against narcotics smugglers and suppliers.
In Samba district, police said, teams have arrested three notorious drug peddlers including two women, all residents of Rakh Barotian Vijaypur with approximately 21 grams of heroin, four mobile phones, a weighing machine and cash amounting to Rs 38,770have been recovered from them in area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.
A police party of Police Station Vijaypur during special vehicle checking naka near Rakh Barotian Vijaypur, intercepted a bike without registration number that was coming from Rakh Barotian side and moving towards Vijaypur.
During checking, police said, approximately 11.43 grams of heroin like substance, four mobile phones, one weighing machine and cash of Rs 24,630 have been recovered from the possession of bike rider and lady pillion rider who are brother and sister.
The accused were identified as Bhag Ali @Ashiq Ali son of Gau and Meenu daughter of Gau both resident of Rakh Barotian tehsil Vijaypur district Samba have been arrested and the contraband item alongwith other items recovered on the spot have been seized.
The arrested accused happen to be siblings, who are involved in illegal narcotics trade and are operating in the Vijaypur area, police further said informing that both used to supply drugs to the addicts in the region.
A case in FIR No. 155/2024 U/Ss 8/21/22/27-A/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation has been started.
Similarly, in an another operation against narcotic smugglers, police said to have arrested a female drug peddler namely Roshan Bibi @Lalu @Alu wife of Lal Hussain resident of Rakh Barotian Vijaypur who has been arrested with approximately 8.90 grams heroin and while cash to the tune of rupees 14,140 has been recovered from her possession by Police team of Police Station Vijaypur during special naka near Rakh Barotian Vijaypur.
A case FIR No. 156/2024 U/S 8/21/22/27-A NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started.
In another case, police in Jammu claimed to have arrested a drug peddler recovering 10.5 Grand of heroin like substance was recovered from his possession.
"In its ongoing drive against the menace of drugs, Jammu police achieved a major success as it apprehended a drug peddler along with 10.5 Grams of Heroin like substance." police said.
During vehicle checking, police party from Police Post headed by PSI Darshan Singh, Incharge Police Post Canal Road Jammu, signalled the person who was travelling in his car bearing registration number HR73A 3655 to stop near Nikki Tawi.
During his personal search, police said, 10.5 Grams of Heroin like substance was recovered from his possession who disclosed his identity as Abdul Hamid @Medhu son of Lt. Abdul Rashid R/O Nikki Tawi, Jammu.
In this connection, police said, a case FIR No 194/2024 U/Ss 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nowabad.
The arrest of Abdul Hamid @ Medhu highlights the persistent and coordinated efforts of Jammu Police under Operation Sanjeevani to tackle the drug menace in the region, said police.
