2 villages along LoC in Uri to lighten up with installation of micro solar grids
Baramulla, Oct 23: The two remote villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Baramulla district are all set to lighten up with the installation of the micro solar grids.
According to residents, these two villages have never been provided with the electricity supply and they have been living in "complete darkness" while longing for the glimpse of the electricity supply in their areas.
However, a Pune-based NGO- Aseem Foundation has started the installation of the micro solar grids in these two villages ahead of the upcoming winter months.
"We are delighted to see the installation of the micro solar grids in the area. Our villages have been without electricity which causes huge inconveniences to us particularly during winters. Successive regimes have failed to provide the uninterrupted electricity supply to our villages till date," said Muhammad Sammad, a local resident from Sumali.
"Getting electricity supply in our villages particularly in winter months will be a dream come true for us," he said.
He said the villages remain cut off from government electricity supply for a prolonged time as all the electricity lines become inactive, particularly during winters.
"But the installation of micro solar grids has raised our hope and we expect that we will get uninterrupted power supply," said Sidiq Ahmad, another local resident of the area.
The locals said they have been deprived of basic facilities all these years.
Besides males, the female is equally jubilant with the installation of the solar grids in the villages.
"We are really very happy with this initiative. Now our homes will have uninterrupted electricity and we will be able to carry out our daily work easily," Saja Begum said.
President Aseem Foundation Sarang Gosawi while briefing about the initiative said the micro solar grids for Sumali and Chautali village in Boniyar will be inaugurated on October 26 of 2024.
"These grids will provide electricity to over 225 households," he said.
He said the electricity supply from these solar grids will not only illuminate homes but also pave the way for improved education, livelihood opportunities, and a better quality of life.
