2 truck drivers arrested, 20.5 kg contraband recovered on Srinagar-Jammu NH
Ramban, Dec 16: Two persons were arrested with poppy straw at the Police Check Post, Nashri, on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Monday. A Police spokesman said that under the supervision of SSP Ramban Kulbir Singh, Police in Batote arrested two persons and recovered the contraband from their vehicles.
They said that late Sunday evening, a Police party of Police Station Batote while routine checking at Nashri Naka on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway intercepted a Jammu-bound vehicle (PB13Z 8565). During the checking of the vehicle, 12kg of poppy straw was recovered.
Police said that the driver of the vehicle Pamma Singh of Bhindi Saidan, Amritsar, Punjab was arrested on the spot. Meanwhile, a Jammu-bound truck (PB22G 9207) was intercepted at Nashri Naka on the highway.
During checking 8.5 kg of poppy straw was recovered from it. The driver of the vehicle identified as Kashmir Singh, son of Bachan Singh of Tera Rajputan, Amritsar, Punjab was arrested.
In this regard, a case FIR Nos 151 and 152 of 2024 under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Batote.
