2 tourists injured in Lawaypora accident

Srinagar, Nov 21: Two tourists sustained injuries as their cab met with an accident at Lawaypora area on city outskirts.

An official said that the injured were identified as Asma Sheikh and Shabir Ahmad, both residents of Bangalore. They were shifted to nearby Noora Hospital.

“These were three persons traveling in a commercial cab that included a driver and two tourists. One female, namely Asma Sheikh, has a head injury and has been admitted to the hospital. Doctors are monitoring her health” said an official.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident and started investigation. To mention earlier this month, at least three persons, including a minor, lost their lives in two separate accidents in the same area.

Last week, another accident occurred in the Tengpora area, which led to the death of two minors. The incident shook the valley, pushing authorities to go for a massive crackdown on overspeeding and underage driving.
