“Infiltration bid was foiled in the IB sector of Khour after our surveillance devices noticed the suspicious movement of heavily-armed four terrorists during the intervening night of December 22 and 23. As they were trying to infiltrate this side of IB, they were challenged and our troops opened fire bringing them down. As they sustained injuries; one of them fell down. In the face of effective fire, they retreated while dragging the body of their associate, who had fallen down,” PRO Defence Lt Col Suneel Bartwal told Greater Kashmir.

White Knight Corps too posted details of this abortive infiltration bid on ‘X’ as it wrote, “Infiltration bid foiled in IB sector of #Khour, # Akhnoor. Suspected move of four terrorists seen through own surveillance devices on the night of 22/23 Dec 23. Effective fire brought down. Terrorists seen dragging one body back across the IB.”

Later, in the evening, sources confirmed that two terrorists were killed in the operation as a second terrorist too had succumbed to injuries.

“Indian army is engaged in relentless operations to thwart inimical designs of Pakistan, which is constantly making an effort to revive terrorism in Pir Panchal region. This was also a hard-intelligence based operation, being carried out in difficult terrain and weather to prevent Dhangri like incidents. To divert attention and blind our surveillance devices, Sarkandas (wild bushes) were set on fire near Pak post to facilitate terrorists, however, alert troops successfully thwarted their bid,” they stated.
