2 structures gutted in Shamswari blaze
Srinagar, May 17: A masjid and a house were gutted in a fire incident at Shamaswari area of Fateh Kadal here today.
An official of the Fire and Emergency Services said that they received information about the incident at around 9:20 am. Subsequently they pressed multiple fire tenders to douse off the fire. He said fire also engulfed a two-storey wooden residential structure within no time.
“We pressed over a dozen fire tenders from Headquarters, MR Jung, SH Pora, Babademb, Rainawari, Rawalpora, Safa Kadal and other fire stations. The fire was brought under control in time saving nearby structures in the locality,” said the official.
The official said that the attic portion of the masjid was severely damaged but the men on ground with the help of locals brought the fire under control in a short time.
“There was no loss of life reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation,” he added.
