Jammu, Nov 5: Police Tuesday arrested two drug peddlers with around 100 grams of heroin (Chitta) like narcotics at Link road Govindsar area in Kathua district.

“On November 4, 2024, an information was received at Police Station Kathua through the reliable sources that two persons namely Shabbir Shah, son of Shaffi, resident of Ward No 12 Kathua, at present Maggar Khad, Kathua and Baggo Din alias Bhaggu, son of Bari Din, resident of Barrian Pattan, Kathua were doing illegal trade of selling narcotics like contraband and kept huge quantity of narcotics substance in their possession. As per information, they were trying to sell the same to the people near link road Govindsar Railway Station towards New Basti Kharote Morh NHW Kathua area,” a Police spokesperson said.

Acting swiftly, a team, led by In-charge Police Post Industrial Estates, Kathua PSI Swaran Singh Manhas laid down a special naka in the area and was able to apprehend the duo.

“During checking approximately 52.80 grams of heroin (Chitta) narcotics was recovered from Shabbir Shah while approximately 45.65 grams of heroin like narcotics was recovered from Baggo Din, thereby making a total of 98.45 grams of narcotics recovered from their illegal possession,” Police spokesperson said.

The recovered heroin was seized and both the drug peddlers were arrested on spot.

“A case, vide FIR No 357/2024 U/S 8/21/22/29/NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Kathua while further investigation is underway. District Police Kathua once again has requested people of the area to come forward and share information on 100 or 9858034100 about any such illicit activity. The identity of the person will be kept confidential,” Police Spokesperson said.
