2 of family die in Rajouri mishap

Rajouri, Sep 21: A man and his grandson lost their lives in a tragic road accident that took place at Rah Salyot between Bhambla and Sunderbani on Jammu Rajouri Poonch National Highway.

The accident site falls under the jurisdiction of Chowki Choura police post of Jammu district. As per officials, the tragic road accident happened on Sunday evening when a car with registration number JK11E-3874 heading toward Sunderbani from Jammu collided head-on with a truck having registration number JK02DN-9628.

In this head-on collision, 25-year-old Manik Raina, son of Rakesh Raina, and his 78-year-old grandfather, retired teacher Dev Raj, son of Sant Ram Raina, both residents of Dobba Bhajwal village of Sunderbani got critically injured.

Duo were rescued from ill-fated car after hectic efforts and rushed to Sub District Hospital Sunderbani where both of them succumbed.

News of the tragedy quickly spread through the area, sending shockwaves across the village. Neighbors, friends, and community members gathered at the hospital to console the grieving family. Dev Raj was widely regarded as a respected educator.
