2 minor boys drown in Doda

Ramban, Oct 15: Tragedy struck Bhella tehsil of Doda district on Wednesday when two teenage boys drowned while bathing in the Chiralla Nullah.

According to police sources, the victims have been identified as Akshay Kumar, 15, son of Hemat Singh, a resident of Kamega Chagsoo and Sajal Singh Manhas, 15, son of Kashmir Singh, a resident of Malhota Panshai—both from tehsil Bhella.

Police, quoting locals, said the incident occurred when the boys accidentally slipped into deep water while bathing in the stream.

Upon receiving the information, local residents and police teams rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies from downstream.

Police said after completing medical and legal formalities bodies of both the deceased boys were handed over to legal heirs for last rites.

A pall of gloom descended on the village as the local communities mourned the loss of the two young lives.

A local resident of Bhella stated that it was a 22 feet deep stream where this incident happened.

Police have started investigations in the case.
