2 Ladakh panchayats win awards

Surprisingly no Panchayat from J&K figuring among the awardees. Both these Panchayats of Ladakh stood at Number two among three top Panchayats. Kargil, Dec 12: Two Panchayats in Leh district of Ladakh union territory including Sumoor Panchayat and Khaltsi panchayat have won prestigious National Panchayat Awards for the year 2022-23 announced by the Union Ministry of Panchayat Raj.

The awards were presented by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, during a ceremony held in Delhi. Sumoor Panchayat was awarded the Clean and Green Panchayat Award, recognising its exceptional commitment to cleanliness, sustainability, and environmental conservation while the Khaltsi Panchayat was conferred with the Panchayat with Good Governance Award, acknowledging its excellent governance practices and dedication to community development.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Leh, Adv Tashi Gyalson on behalf of LAHDC and people of Ladakh has extended heartfelt congratulations to both Panchayats for these outstanding achievements. Chairman/CEC Adv. Tashi Gyalson and Executive Councillor for Rural Development, Yakzee Tashi facilitated DC/CEO, LAHDC, Leh Santosh Sukhadeve for receiving the National Panchayat Award from President of India Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi.
