2 killed in Kathua, Udhampur incidents
Jammu, June 9: Two persons, including a minor girl, were killed and fourteen others were injured in two incidents of separate nature in Kathua and Udhampur districts on Sunday.
In Kathua, a minor girl fell into an open water storage tank at Sakta Chak along Jammu-Pathankot highway this afternoon triggering a protest against the private company which had left the tank open.
The officials identified the deceased girl as 12-year old Arushi, a resident of Sakta Chak. Protesting locals, seeking compensation for the aggrieved family and action against the guilty, blocked the road for some time. They called off the protest after officials assured action against the guilty for negligence.
In a separate incident, one person was killed and fourteen others were injured when a mini-bus they were travelling in, fell into a gorge near Battal.
The accident occurred when the driver of the mini-bus, on its way from Manwal to Nagrota, was trying to negotiate a sharp turn and lost control of it (mini-bus). The identity of the deceased person was being ascertained.
