2 killed, 5 injured in Thanamandi road accident

Rajouri, Nov 17: Two persons were killed and five others injured in a road accident near Thanamandi in Rajouri district.

The mishap occurred when a passenger cab JKJ20 3494 plying on Thanamandi-Shahdra road skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge after driver failed to negotiate a turn.

The deceased included an 11 year old girl and the driver of the cab. The injured were removed to GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri and two of them are in critical condition. The deceased were identified as diver Mohammad Yasir son of Mohammad Hussain resident of Bhangai Thanamandi and Shazia Kouser daughter of Shafiq Ahmed resident of Bhangai Thanamandi.

The five passengers who were injured are Pooja Devi wife of Chaman Lal resident of Agrati Rajouri, Arushi daughter of Chaman Lal resident of Agrati Rajouri, Aliya daughter of Zulfkar Khan resident of Agrati Rajouri, Shakeel Ahmed son of Faqir Mohammad resident of Parori Kotranka and Kala Khan son of Noor Mohammad resident of Muradpur Rajouri.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal also visited GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri where he met the injured and their attendants and inquired about their well being.

He was also briefed by the hospital management about healthcare service and treatment being provided to the injured.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal said that the passenger cab fell in gorge.

"Doctors in GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri are making best possible efforts to provide treatment to the injured especially to the two critically injured person," he said.
