2 injured in Mendhar stabbing incident

Rajouri, May 19: Two youth who were attending a political rally sustained injuries in an incident of stabbing at Mendhar.

The duo have been hospitalised in GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri and one among them has been operated upon. Officials said that a rally of NC under the banner of INDI Alliance was going on at Mendhar sub division headquarter in Poonch district.

Before start of rally, they said, some youth entered into verbal duel over some old enmity and shared blows after which one of the accused used some sharp object weapons, reportedly a knife, to attack boys from other side.

Two boyswere injured in this incident of stabbing who were rushed to Mendhar sub district hospital from where they were referred to GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri.

Medical Superintendent of GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri, Dr Mehmood H Bajar said that two injured from Mendhar having multiple stab injuries were brought in GMC Rajouri on Sunday during evening hours.

"One of the injured is critical and has undergone three hour long surgery," Dr Mehmood said.The second injured person is out of danger, he added.

Both the patients are under treatment in ICU in hospital. Police on the other hand said to have taken up investigation of the matter after registration of a case in Mendhar police station.

Injured meanwhile have been identified as Yasir Ahmed son of Mohammad Shabir and Sahil Ahmed son of Mohammad Bashir, both resident of Galuta Mendhar.

The second injured person is out of danger, he added.
