Srinagar, Jan 30: At least two houses were gutted in a fire incident atChattabal area today.

As per the officials from Fire and Emergency Services, the fire incident occurred on Thursday and gutted two houses located adjacent to each other.

The officials said they received information about the fire incident at around 12:22 p.m. They said multiple fire tenders from Safakadal and Headquarters were pressed to douse the fire.

“These were two houses located adjacent to each other. The twin houses were two-story, and the fire started in one of the houses and soon spread to another house. The top portion of both the houses was gutted in the incident,” said the official.

The officials said as per the initial investigation, the cause of the fire seems to be a short circuit.

Meanwhile, multiple families were left to fend for themselves amid the cold. The families said that they had lost everything in the fire and wanted the government to provide help.

"I am a father to four daughters, and we lost everything in the incident. We had bought clothing and other material for the marriage of my daughter, and everything was lost in the fire,” said a victim.

For the past few days, there have been multiple fire incidents in Srinagar amid dry spell. On Monday, a fire broke out in the forest area adjacent to the Hariparbat fort.
