2 drug smugglers booked under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla: Police
Srinagar, May 31; Two drug smugglers were booked under the PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla on Friday, Police said.
A statement of J&K Police issued here said that acting tough against the drug peddlers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police booked two drug smugglers under the PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
“The drug smugglers Ehtisham-ud-Din Khan of Gousia Mohalla, Ladoora, Watergam, and Farhat Begum alias Fancy of Trikanjan, Boniyar have been booked under the PIT-NDPS Act,” the statement said.
It said that the booked drug smuggler Ehtisham has been detained and subsequently lodged at Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu while Farhat has been lodged at Central Jail Srinagar.
The Police statement said that many cases were registered against them and that they were involved in promoting the drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Baramulla town, Kreeri, Trikanjan, Boniyar, and other areas of the district.
“Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth,” the statement said.
