2 drug peddlers held with contraband in Kulgam: Police
Srinagar, Nov 10: Police in Kulgam have recovered contraband substances from two drug peddlers in two separate incidents.
A police in a statement said that at a specific checkpoint established at Furrah, a police party of Police Post Mirbazar intercepted a person carrying a nylon bag. He has been identified as Nazam Hussain, son of Mumtaz Hussain, resident of Bass Bass Chanderkote Ramban. During search, officers present were able to recover 10.2 kilograms of poppy straw from his possession.
In another incident, a police party of PS Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Chattbal Kulgam near Public Park, arrested a drug peddler identified as Hoorun Salam, son of Ab Salam Nanada, resident of Gasran Kulgam. During search, 7 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession, the statement said.
The police has registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and started investigations.
People are requested to cooperate with police in the battle against the drug menace and any information regarding anti-social activity in their neighbourhood should be shared with a nearby police unit or Dial-112 so that timely action against the culprits will be taken, the statement added.
