2 drug peddlers arrested with heroin in Bishnah
Jammu, Dec 10: Two drug peddlers were arrested with 74 grams of heroin (Chitta) in Bishnah area of Jammu district on Wednesday.
“In a significant development, against drug trafficking, a team of Bishnah Police Station, Jammu with the active public support, arrested two individuals during the intervening night of December 9 and 10, 2025, at Pasgal, Bishnah. Development was unique as the locals actively helped Police to nab these two drug peddlers, who intended to sell drugs to the youth in the area,” Police said.
The open public support added one more active dimension to the anti-drug campaign of the Police, it said.
The accused have been identified as Baru, 20, son of Sharief, and Mensha, 19, son of Surmu, both residents of Khad, Vijaypur.
According to police officials and local residents, the duo was found carrying approximately 74 grams of a heroin-like substance.
“On noticing the police patrolling party at Pasgal Bishnah, the suspects allegedly attempted to flee. The locals supporting the Police patrolling team acted promptly and apprehended both individuals on the spot. Following the recovery, FIR No 139/2025 was registered against the accused persons, and further investigation has been set into motion,” Police said.
“We are also working to identify backward as well as forward linkages in the cases to book all such individuals in the case. With active public support as in this case, we are committed to identify and book all the drug traffickers and curb the drug menace from Jammu region,” Police said.
