2 drug peddlers arrested in Lalpora
Kupwara, Nov 14: Two drug peddlers were arrested in the Devar area of Lolab in north Kashmir's Kupwara district, Police said Tuesday.
An official said that acting on specific information about the smuggling of narcotics by two persons from Dever towards Kupwara, a police checkpoint was set up in the presence of the Executive Magistrate near Lalpora market.
"During the checking at the checkpoint, one vehicle (JKO9C 4016) on the way from Dever towards Kupwara driven by Fayaz Ahmad Mir of Dever Anderbugh and boarded by another accomplice Mansoor Ahmad Mir of Dever Sarpanch Mohalla was intercepted searched," he said.
"Two packets weighing 2.6 kg of narcotics looking like charas were recovered from the vehicle and personal search of Fayaz Mir in the presence of Executive Magistrate Ist Class Lalpora. The recovered narcotics were sealed on the spot, the vehicle seized, and the two smugglers arrested in case FIR No 90/2023 under sections of the NDPS Act," the official said.
The investigation has been taken up to find out other connections in the case.
