2 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam | Contraband substance recovered

Kulgam,  Jan 14: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested 2 drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party headed by Incharge PP Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Zadoora Crossing on NHW-44 intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Mudasir Ahmad Ahangar resident of Doru and Mohd Iqbal Chopan resident of Shangas.

After noticing the police party they tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. After checking, officers were able to recover 4.2 kgs of poppy straw-like substance concealed in nylon bags from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No 7/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
