2 drug peddlers arrested in Baramulla | Contraband substances recovered

Baramulla, Mar 13: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 2 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party of Police Post Wussan headed by IC PP Wussan at a checkpoint established at Noorbagh Crossing Wussan, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mohd Lateef Teli, resident of Ussan Khoie. During the search, 3.1 kgs of cannabis powder was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Pattan where he remains in custody.

Similarly, a police party of Police Post Mirgund headed by IC PP Mirgund at a checkpoint established at Odina near transit accommodation, intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK16A-8457. During the search, 130 grams of cannabis powder was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Mohammad Afzal Parray, resident of Batpora Wakura Ganderbal. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Pattan where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

"We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law," police said.
