2 die by suicide in separate incidents in Baramulla
Baramulla, Jul 19: In two separate incidents, a man and a girl lost their lives after jumping into the River Jhelum Baramulla on Saturday.
Abdul Aziz Najar, 55, a carpenter by profession and a resident of Venkara village, jumped into the River Jhelum from Azad Gunj Bridge on Saturday morning.
Soon after the incident, teams from the SDRF along with Jammu and Kashmir Police rushed to the spot and launched a search operation.
However, the body could not be retrieved by evening and is believed to have drifted downstream.
In another incident, a girl from the Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district committed suicide by jumping into the River Jhelum.
The authorities later deployed several SDRF teams in the river to retrieve the body. The search operation for the retrieval of the bodies is underway at both Sopore and Baramulla town.
Meanwhile, Police have registered two seperate cases at Sopore and Baramulla in connection with the incidents.
