2 detained under PSA in Samba
Samba, May 11: Police Saturday detained two notorious criminals and lodged them in jail under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA).
Their detention orders were issued by the District Magistrate Samba, based on detailed dossiers prepared by SSP Samba, following their repeated engagement in criminal activities. SHO Vijaypur executed these warrants, leading to the incarceration of the accused in district Jail Kathua.
“In order to curb the activities of criminal gangs in the district Samba, police detained and lodged in jail two notorious criminals of Gataru gang including head of the gang Sumit Jandyal alias Gataru under the Jammu & Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA),” a police spokesperson said.
“The gangster Sumit Jandyal and member of Gataru gang Sourav Gupta, both sons of Om Parkash, resident of Vijaypur, district Samba have been booked under the PSA for their alleged involvement in criminal activities in an organised manner, thus posing a serious threat to public peace and order,” spokesperson said.
He stated that the gangster Gataru was operating his gang along with his brother Sourav and other members in the district.
“This gang is involved in gang wars and various criminal activities involving attempt to murder, robbery, breach of peace, extortion, cheating and land grabbing. Both have been involved in multiple criminal cases registered in the Police Stations of district Samba and Jammu,” he said.
