2 dead, 21 injured in Rafiabad accident
Baramulla, June 13: Two passengers died while 21 others sustained injuries after a minibus they were travelling in turned turtle and fell into a gorge at Pazalpora, Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
The dead have been identified as Noor Muhammad Janjoo and Abdul Rashid Khan, both residents of Hamam Markote.
The incident happened when the minibus (JK05 6339) on its way to Sopore turned turtle at Pazalpora, resulting in injuries to 23 passengers.
Soon after the incident, the locals along with J&K Police personnel rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.
The injured were shifted to the Associated Hospital Government Medical College Baramulla where two of them were declared dead on arrival.
A patient identified as Farooq Ahmad, who has received an eye injury, was shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment.
The Medical Superintendent of Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla, Dr Parvaiz Masoodi told Greater Kashmir that two of the injured passengers were declared dead on arrival while the remaining injured were being treated at the hospital and their condition was stable.
Meanwhile, Police in Dangiwacha registered a case in connection with the incident and started further investigation.
