2 booked under PSA in Poonch : Police

Poonch, Mar 18: Police in Poonch said tha ttwo notorious criminals have been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA).

In order to tighten noose around the criminal elements the society, police said, two notorious criminals Talib Hussain alias Javid Choudhary son of Nazir Hussain resident of Naka Manjhiari, Tehsil Mendhar and Sharaz Ahmed Mir alias Bedi son of Mohd Arshad Mir resident of Sandote, Tehsil Balakote District Poonch, have been detained under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA).

The action has been taken to curb criminal activities of the duo and to maintain public order.

They have a history of involvement in theft, snatching, smuggling of illicit liquor, and influencing youth negatively, posing a significant threat to public safety, said police.

The District Police Poonch, with orders from the District Magistrate, has taken this preventive measure to prevent further criminal activities, police further said.

Talib Hussain is implicated in seven criminal cases in the district, while Sharaz Ahmed is linked to seven separate criminal cases in Poonch and Rajouri Districts, including cheating, theft, liquor smuggling, and damage to government property.

Further preventive detentions against such elements as per necessity of the situation can not be ruled out, said police.
