2 Bangladeshi nationals killed in BSF firing during smuggling attempt in Tripura
New Delhi, Jul 26: Two Bangladeshi nationals were killed and another injured late Thursday night when Border Security Force (BSF) personnel opened fire to prevent a cross-border smuggling attempt near Amzadnagar in South Tripura’s Belonia subdivision,
The Assam Tribune reported. According to BSF officials, as reported by the Assam Tribune, a group of around 10 to 15 individuals from Bangladesh’s Feni district crossed the barbed wire fence into Indian territory using wooden planks, despite heavy rainfall.
The group reportedly advanced nearly 150 metres into India, attempting to smuggle a large consignment of Viagra tablets. A BSF trooper stationed within the fenced zone confronted the group and issued warnings to retreat. When the intruders allegedly responded by pelting stones and approaching aggressively, the trooper fired five to six rounds in self-defence, officials said.
