2 absconders arrested under POCSO Act in Samba
Jammu, Dec 21: Police Saturday arrested two absconding criminals in Samba district, wanted in a POCSO case registered in R S Pura Police Station of Jammu district.
In a separate case, Police apprehended two women, hailing from Budgam district, presently staying in Jammu, in a theft case in Samba district.
“In continuation to its drive against the hardcore criminals, a team of Police Station Vijaypur apprehended absconders namely Bashir Ahmed alias Paa, son of Mohd Noor, resident of Langotian, Miran Sahib of district Jammu and Roshan Din, son of Mohd Sadiq, resident of Barmal, tehsil Bishnah, district Jammu, wanted in case FIR No 181/2023 U/S 363/323/343/376D/509/109/201 IPC registered at Police Station RS Pura. Both the accused were evading their arrest after the commission of the crime,” Police said.
Accordingly, they were produced in the court of law and sent to District Jail Ambphalla Jammu by Police, thus executing the arrest warrant u/s 512 CrPC issued against them.
“Hardcore criminal Bashir Ahmed alias Paa is also an absconder in a case FIR No 79/2022 U/S 307/427/34 IPC& 8/21/22 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Ramban,” Police said.
Meanwhile, SSP Samba warned of strict action against the people indulging in drug trafficking, bovine smuggling and other criminal activities and also sought the cooperation of people in this regard.
In a separate case, the Police stated to have solved a theft case registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana, by arresting two women accused.
Police also recovered cash amounting to Rs 40000 from their possession which was unauthorisedly withdrawn from bank account through ATM card in multiple transactions.
“On December 10, 2024, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Bari Brahmana by one Anita Devi, wife of Arjun Mandal, resident of ESIC Colony, Bari Brahmana regarding theft of her wallet containing SBI ATM Card along with its PIN by some unknown persons while she was travelling from Shastri Nagar Jammu to Bari Brahmana in a mini bus (matador) and subsequently withdrawal of cash of Rs 40000 from her bank account in multiple transactions through ATMs using her stolen SBI ATM card,” Police said.
Acting over the complaint, a case FIR No. 161/2024 u/s 303(2) BNS was registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team of Police Station Bari Brahmana found that cash was withdrawn from J&K Bank ATM Bari Brahmana and HDFC Bank ATM Bari Brahmana in four transactions of Rs 10,000 each by the accused.
Accordingly, on the analysis of CCTV footage of both the ATMs, it was found that two women culprits had used the complainant’s ATM card and withdrawn the cash amounting to Rs 40,000 from her bank account.
Both the accused women namely Muskaan, wife of Sameer and Mehar-un-Nissa, wife of Sohail Ahmed, both residents of Sokh Nallah, Kani Gund, district Budgam, at present Dohana Morh, Jammu were arrested from Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana and on their disclosure cash of Rs 40,000 was recovered from their rented room at Dohana Morh, Phalian Mandal Jammu. “Further investigation of the case is going on,” Police said.
