19 DySPs transferred, posted at new Police Components across Jammu

Terror affected areas fall in jurisdiction of these PCs

Jammu, Aug 15: Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain has ordered the transfers and postings of 19 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySPs) with immediate effect.

They have been posted at newly established Police Components (PCs). Some of them have also been posted as Sub Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs).

Notably, to strengthen ongoing anti-terror operations, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) has recently established several new units, sub divisions of Police Component or Special Operation Group (SoG) in several districts of Jammu province where spurt in terror activities has been reported.

As per order, Charanjeet Singh has been transferred from IR 2nd Battalion and posted as Deputy SP PC Basantgarh-Udhampur where several terror related incidents have taken place during last couple of months.

Similarly, Mubashir Rasool has been posted as Deputy SP Dachan Kishtwar, which is one of the remote sub-regions in the Chenab valley while Javaid Iqbal Tabassum has been posted as Deputy SP PC Bani Kathua.

Asgar Ali Malik has been posted as Deputy SP PC Udhampur in order to strengthen the CI grid of this district while Faraz Hussain Shah has been posted as Deputy SP Sabgaldhan Ramban which has gained importance after railway line of Reasi-Ramban stretch has been made functional.

Zafar Mahdi has been posted as Deputy SP PC Mahore Chassana in Reasi which shares boundaries with Rajouri district. Suspected movement of terrorists has been reported from the area.

Updesh Kumar has been posted as Deputy SP PC Gursai in Poonch which has its jurisdiction over dense forests of Jarran Wali Gali, Bhata Dhurian, Nar where at least half a dozen terror incidents have taken place in last two years while Kuldeep Kumar has been posted as Deputy SP PC Chanderkote-Batote-Ramban, which shares its boundaries with Assar, Patnitop area where an encounter took place yesterday.

Surinder Mohan has been posted as Deputy SP PC Kalakote in Rajouri, having jurisdiction over vast area and forests of Kalakote where many terror incidents including encounter in Soom forests, have taken place. Arif Hussain Malik has been posted as Deputy SP PC Goha Marmat in Doda that has jurisdiction over forests of Marmat and Goha.

In Bufliyaz of Poonch, located alongside Mughal Road, a new PC unit has been set up and Majid Ali has been posted as Deputy SP. The area is presently considered hyper sensitive in terms of terror movement and has witnessed several terror related incidents during last one year that include December 22 terror attack last year in which four army personnel lost their lives and many got injured when their vehicles were ambushed in DKG forests.

In Ukhral of Ramban, Latief Ahmed Khan has been posted as Deputy SP PC while Sajad Hussain has been posted as Deputy SP in PC unit of Lati in Udhampur which is a remote and forest covered area of the district.

Satvir Singh has been posted as Deputy SP Panasa in Reasi while Ashwani Kumar as Deputy SP PC in Pouni Reasi and Sarbjeet Singh as Deputy SP PC in Gulabgarh Reasi.

Vishal Manhas has been posted as Deputy SP Mandi Poonch that has its territorial jurisdiction over areas of Loran, Saujiyan and Mandi areas whereas Pankaj Kumar and Sukhvir Singh have been posted as Deputy SPs of new PC stations at Dessa Kastigarh in Doda and Malhar Kathua respectively.

In Drabshala area of Kishtwar district, Abdul Rehman has been posted as Deputy SP of new PC unit.

Official sources said that at some of these stations, PC teams were working already but PHQ has now strengthened its Counter Insurgency (CI) and Counter Terrorism (CT) grid by establishing full fledged PC stations/sub divisions headed by Deputy SP rank officers.
