171 drug peddlers arrested in Baramulla in 5 months: Police

Srinagar, June 1: A total of 171 drug peddlers including 44 hardcore drug peddlers were arrested after they were booked under the PIT NDPS during the first five months of the year 2024.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that to destroy the ecosystem of narcotics across north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Police registered 95  cases under the NDPS Act.

It said contraband and psychotropic substances worth Rs 51.62 crore were also recovered and seized.

Police also seized 15 vehicles which were used for NDPS activities in the district.

It said that during the past five months, illegal properties of 16 drug peddlers worth Rs 5.5 crore were also attached.
