16-year-old Yasmeen battling for life in Jammu hospital
Rajouri, Jan 1: 16-year-old Yasmeen Kouser, daughter of Muhammad Aslam, the lone survivor among six siblings, is battling for life in SMGS Hospital, Jammu in critical condition.
She has lost her three sisters and two brothers since Sunday to an unexplained illness that erupted in Badhaal village of Kotranka in Rajouri district.
Yasmeen, along with her five siblings, fell ill on Sunday (January 12) and were hospitalised in sub-district hospital Kandi from where they were initially referred to GMC Associated Hospital, Rajouri and later to GMC Jammu’s SMGS Hospital.
Presently, officials informed, Yasmeen is in a critical stage, on ventilator support in SMGS Hospital Jammu.
Her five deceased siblings have been identified as Zahoor Ahmed (14), Nabeena Kouser (6), Muhammad Maroof (8), Safeena Kouser (12) and Zabina Kouser (10).
Yasmeen's father Muhammad Aslam has not only lost his five children but also his uncle and aunt. His uncle Muhammad Yousuf and his wife Jatti Begum were living with Muhammad Aslam's family, in the same house.
Jatti Begum lost her life to this disease late Thursday (January 16) evening while her husband Mohd Yousuf died in a similar situation on January 14.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary also visited the SMGS hospital, Jammu to enquire about the health of Yasmeen.
He was accompanied by MLA Budhal Javaid Choudhary and other senior officers.
