15 shortlisted candidates to appear for interaction on April 4

Srinagar, Apr 2: In the latest development, 15 candidates shortlisted for the appointment of Chairman JK Board of School Education (JKBOSE) and Director JKSCERT will appear for the interaction before the Search Committee on April 4 of 2025 in civil Secretariat Jammu.

The notice in this regard has been issued by the J&K School Education Department.

“The meeting of the Search Committee headed by the Additional chief Secretary Higher Education Department was held on February 17 and the candidates were shortlisted for their interaction,” the notice reads.

As per the notice, the candidates shortlisted for the post of Chairman JKBOSE and the post of Director JK State Council of Educational Research and trainings (SCERT) include Principal Islamia College of Science and Commerce Srinagar Prof Munshi Tehmina Yousuf, Principal GDC Basoli Dr Sunil Gupta, Joint Registrar university of Jammu Raj Kumar, Dean Academic Affairs Cluster University of Jammu Dr Satinder Kour, Principal HED Dr Manisha Kohli, Dean and head School Education Central University of Kashmir Syed Zahoor Ahmad Geelani, Deputy Registrar IUST, Dr Shenaz Iqbal Qureshi, Principal GDC Samba Dr Twinkle Suri, Coordinator and HoD Persian at Kashmir University Jahangir Iqbal Tantray, Additional Commissioner in Divisional Commissioner office Kashmir Abid Hussain and Joint Director JKSCERT Sindu Kapoor.

Besides, Finance Officer University of Jammu Dr Jatinder Khajuria and Joint Secretary JKBOSE Dr Sudhir Singh have been shortlisted for the post of Chairman JKBOSE.

“The shortlisted applicants are hereby informed to appear before the search committee for interaction on April 4 of 2025 at 11 am in the committee meeting room, 3rd floor main building civil secretariat Jammu,” the official document reads.

Earlier the interaction of 14 shortlisted candidates was scheduled on March 5 of 2025 which was however postponed for unknown reasons.

As per the fresh schedule, the government has included name of 15th candidate namely Prof Bilal Rafiq Shah who is a professor at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) who has applied for the post of Chairman JK BOSE and Director JKSCERT.

As already reported by this newspaper, the J&K Government in December last year reconstituted a search committee for recommending the panel of the candidates for the appointment as Chairman JKBOSE and the Director J&K SCERT.

The committee is headed by Administrative Secretary Agricultural Production Department as its chairman while the Administrative Secretary of School Education Department (SED), GAD and Higher Education Department (HED) will be the members of the committee.

The other two members of the search committee are Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir (KU) and Vice Chancellor University of Jammu (JU).

As already reported, the two-year term of incumbent Chairman JKBOSE expired on January 25 of 2025. He was appointed as the Chairman JKBOSE on January 25 of 2023 on a deputation basis for a period of two years. As per the order, his appointment came into effect “from the date of the issuance of the notification of his appointment.”

Manhas demitted his office on January 25 of 2025. However, the government on February 5 of 2025 extended his term for one month with effect from expiry of his two-year tenure. His extension period expired on February 24 of 2025.

Presently, Financial Commissioner Education Department Shantmanu holds the additional charge of Chairman JKBOSE and Director SCERT, in addition to his own duties.

The notification in this regard was issued by government on March 1 of 2025 as “an interim arrangement, till further orders.”
