14th Dalai Lama lays foundation stone for new Chowkhang Vihara in Leh
Kargil, Aug 3: Tibetan spiritual leader, the 14th Dalai Lama, laid the foundation for the new Chowkhang Vihara, Leh on Sunday.
The event, a moment of profound spiritual significance for the region, drew a large gathering of religious leaders, local dignitaries, and community members.
On his arrival at the Chowkhang Vihara, Dalai Lama was officially received by President Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), Chering Dorjay Lakruk, along with other key members of LBA, LBA youth wing and local residents.
The reception featured traditional Ladakhi music and ceremonial offering of Khataks, symbolizing a warm welcome.
The ceremony was attended by a Chief Executive Councillor Advocate Tashi Gyalson, Executive Councillors of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, and other prominent figures from across Ladakh.
Following the ceremony, Dalai Lama extended his visit to Dharma Centre at Choglamsar, where he delivered a special address to those in attendance, further blessing the community with his compassionate teachings.
