14-hour traffic halt on Kashmir highway for repair work from Saturday

Srinagar, March 08: Traffic movement will be suspended on Jammu-Srinagar national highway from Saturday night for necessary repairs on the thoroughfare, officials said today.

“There will be a traffic halt from 10 pm on 09 March to 12 Noon on 10 March for widening of carriageway to 2 lanes at Dhalwas,” said an official.

He said widening at other places on the highway will also be taken up for restoration between Nashri and Banihal.

The measures, he added, were being taken to ensure safety and well-being of the general populace, travellers and drivers.

The highway was damaged at several places due to landslides triggered by recent rains and snowfall.
