Srinagar, Aug 24: Fourteen candidates officially submitted their nomination papers for Phase-I of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls.

In Kulgam district, the Damhal Hanjipora constituency saw prominent leaders like Sakeena Itoo from the National Conference (NC) and Abdul Majeed Paddar from the Apni Party (AP) enter the fray.

Meanwhile, Nazir Ahmad Laway of the Peoples Conference (PC) filed his papers for the Kulgam constituency, and the Devsar seat will see Muhammad Sartaj Madni from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) contesting.

In the Anantnag district, senior PDP leader Mehboob Beg registered his nomination for the Anantnag constituency.

In Pulwama district, the Pampore constituency is gearing up for a contest between Mir Altaf Ahmad of the Apni Party (AP) and independent candidate Asif Nabi Dar.

The election scene in the Shopian district saw independent candidate Suhail Ahmad Mir file his nomination for the Shopian constituency.

Further up north, in the Doda district, Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy of the NC (NC) will battle for the Doda constituency, alongside Tanvir Hussain from the All Alliance Democratic Party (AADP).

In Bhaderwah, AADP’s Ashok Kumar Kachroo and independent candidate Rajinder Nath Razdan entered the race.

In Ramban district, the Banihal seat will witness a contest between PDP's Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah while Suteesh Kumar, an independent candidate, filed his nomination for the Ramban constituency.
