13 persons injured in road accident in north Kashmir's Handwara
Kupwara, June 19: At least thirteen persons were injured on Wednesday afternoon after two vehicles collided head-on in Batpora Mawar area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Following the incident, locals rushed to the spot and evacuated injured to nearby New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) Qalamabad where doctors rendered them initial treatment, however considering their severity, they were referred to District Hospital (DH) Handwara.
Deputy Medical Superintendent DH Handwara, Dr Aijaz while talking to media representatives, said that they have received thirteen injured, of them one was referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment, however the remaining were responding well to treatment.
Locals raised a strong voice against the authorities of NTPHC Qalamabad, alleging that of two ambulances, not a single one was present in hospital at the time of incident with the result injured were evacuated to hospital using public transport.
The injured have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Sheikh resident if Mawer Payeen (70), Samen Shafi War (20) resident of Lach, Abdul Rashid Tantray (35) resident of Hangah, Mohammad Miskeen Khan (62), Umi Aiman (11), Rubeena Begum(35), Mesra Begum (55), Mohammad Akbar Sheikh (54), Ulfat daughter of Rafiq Ahmad Khan (18), Aima wife of Riyaz Ahmad Hajam (35) all residents of Nowgam, Irfan Ahmad Chopan resident of Mawer Payeen (23), Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Lawosa Mawer (40) and Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani resident of Lawoosa.
