129 cases of illegal transportation of minerals registered

Baramulla, June 1: Police in its ongoing drive against illegal mining, have registered 129 cases and arrested 210 persons for being involved in extraction and transportation of minerals during the first five months of the year 2024. Besides, it seized 210 vehicles used in the transportation of illegal minerals.

These vehicles have been seized from different areas of the district Baramulla and include 91 Tippers, 113 Tractors and 6 excavators. Baramulla Police along with the Mineral Department have also realised a fine in lakhs for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the district.

"Police are committed to take action against violators who are taking undue advantage of night hours by extracting minerals illegally. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood," police said.
