11 candidates from J&K qualify UPSC Civil Service 2023 exam

Srinagar, Apr 16: As many as 11 candidates from Jammu and Kashmir have qualified the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Service Exams (CSE), the result of which was declared by the Commission on Tuesday.

As per the selection list, Anmol Rathore from Bhaderwah area of Jammu division has secured 7th All India Rank (AIR) in the examination while names of 11 other candidates from J&K figure in the list.

As per the official figures, a total of 180 candidates have been selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), 200 candidates for the Indian Police Service (IPC) and 37 for the Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Also, 613 candidates have been selected for various Grade A posts of the Central government while 113 candidates have been selected for Grade B posts. As per the figures, over 2800 candidates appeared in the interviews conducted in different stages from January to April.

As per the official details, as many as 1016 candidates have been recommended for appointment based on their performance in the examination. The recommendation was done on the basis of the result of the written part of the CSE, 2023 held by the UPSC in September 2023 and the interviews for the personality test held in January-April of this year.

The Civil Services mains examination was held in a subjective mode across two shifts from September 15 to 24 of 2023.

The 11 candidates from Jammu and Kashmir who qualified the UPSC 2023 exams include Anmol rathore - (AIR 7), Arjun Gupta (AIR 32), Manan Bhat (AIR 88), Harnit Singh Sudan (AIR 177), Mohammad Haris Mir (AIR 345), Mohammad Farhan Seh (AIR 369), Aparajita Aryan (AIR 381), Ghulam Maya Din (AIR 388), Suvan Sharma (AIR 412), Seerat Baji (AIR 516) and Dinash Kumar (AIR 1003).

The civil services examination is conducted annually by the UPSC in three stages — preliminary, main and interview — to select officers of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS) among others.

She is from the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. Rathore cracked the UPSC CSE 2023 exam in her third attempt at the age of just 24.

Anmol Rathore who has secured AIR 7 in the UPSC was the JKAS topper in 2022. A resident of Udrana village Bhaderwah , she has done her BA LLB honours from Gujarat National Law University.

She did her schooling from GD Goenka Jammu and completed her graduation in 2021.

Manan Bhat, a resident of Soura Srinagar who secured AIR 88 in UPSC 2023 exam had already qualified the previous UPSC exam with AIR 231. Before that he qualified his JKAS examination as well. He completed his B Tech electronics from NIT Srinagar in 2016 and was doing his job for four years as well.
