Speaking about the significance of OSCs, Director of Mission Vatsalya, Harvinder Kaur highlighted their pivotal role in providing counselling and resolving issues faced by women in Kashmir.

“With a focus on resolving issues ranging from domestic violence to health concerns and legal matters, these centres serve as sanctuaries for women in need,” Kaur told Greater Kashmir.

She said that the diverse range of complaints addressed at OSCs include domestic violence, health problems, and legal issues.

“Through counselling and dedicated support, OSCs strive to empower women and provide them with the necessary assistance to navigate through challenging circumstances,” she said.

J&K has witnessed a concerning rise in crimes against women, with over 11,000 cases registered between 2020 and 2022.

As per the officials, more than just immediate aid, the OSC offers psychological counselling to help women heal and rebuild their lives.

Legal assistance empowers them to seek justice, while medical care ensures their physical well-being.
