11 YEARS OF MODI GOVT: BJP holds convention in Srinagar
Srinagar, Jun 13: In a show of unity, strength, and celebration, the BJP Lalchowk Constituency on Friday held a convention here to mark the completion of 11 transformative years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre.
The event saw turnout of party workers, grassroots leaders, supporters, and senior functionaries gathering to commemorate the Modi-led government’s achievements over the past decade. The event also served as a platform to reaffirm commitment toward the vision of “Viksit Bharat” and regional empowerment, especially in Jammu and Kashmir.
The convention was organised by Er Aijaz Hussain, Senior BJP Leader and DDC Member, who played a key role in orchestrating the event. In his welcome address, Er Hussain emphasized the remarkable transformation India has undergone under PM Modi’s leadership. He underscored developmental milestones, inclusive governance, empowerment of youth and women, and the government’s strong commitment to Jammu & Kashmir’s progress.
“From welfare schemes that touch the last person in the queue to massive infrastructural revolutions and socio-political empowerment, PM Modi has redefined governance in India,” said Er Hussain.
Ashok Koul Ji, BJP’s State General Secretary (Organisation), attended the function as Chief Guest. In his address, he spotlighted the government’s historic decisions, including the abrogation of Article 370, granting reservations to women and OBCs, and the construction of the world’s highest railway bridge in Reasi, which symbolizes integration and connectivity.
“The last 11 years have laid the foundation for a New India — and Jammu & Kashmir is at the heart of this journey. We are witnessing a renaissance in governance, connectivity, youth engagement, and peace,” Koul said.
Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board and Guest of Honour, applauded the government’s policies aimed at empowering the poor and marginalized. She elaborated on how central schemes such as PM Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat have tangibly improved lives, particularly in underserved communities.
“The Modi government’s emphasis on ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ is not just a slogan, but a ground reality now. Today, underprivileged sections, minorities, and women are stakeholders in India’s success story,” Dr Andrabi noted.
Former MLC Vikram Randhawa shared insights into the widespread impact of local governance reforms and infrastructural advancements across urban and rural regions. “We have witnessed transformation from power infrastructure to healthcare. The change is visible and irreversible,” he said.
Umer Shafi, President of the Lalchowk Constituency unit, delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all leaders, karyakartas, and attendees. “This event is a reflection of our strength and resolve to serve the people with greater dedication,” he said.
The convention took a poignant turn as all participants observed a moment of silence and offered a Shradhanjali (solemn tribute) to honor the memory of over 200 individuals who lost their lives in a recent tragic aircraft crash. Floral tributes were paid, and the mood reflected deep grief and solidarity with the bereaved families.
The event was attended by several senior leaders and office bearers including Ashok Bhat, Arshid Ahmad Bhat, Adv Sajid Ahmad (Kashmir Media Incharge), Sahil Bashir (Social Media Incharge), Dr Rafi Ahmad (Grievance Cell Incharge), Saba Bhat (Mahila Morcha Leader), Bashir Ahmad (Ex-Corporator), Farooq Reshi, Uzair Beigh, Majid Ahmad, Asif Khan, Khalid Baqal, Rashida, and many other senior karyakartas and BJP workers.
