1098 Covid cases, 17 deaths in J&K

Srinagar, June 9: Jammu and Kashmir reported 1098 new Covid-19 positive cases while 17 persons died in the last 24 hours. The number of active positive cases has witnessed a decline in less than a month from 50000 to below 20000. As per the details shared by the health department, currently there are 19852 active cases. The health department officials stated that the decline in active cases is an encouraging sign as it has reduced burden on the healthcare institutions. Of total active cases, 12336 are in Kashmir division and 7516 in Jammu division.

As per the official bulletin, a new case of mucormycosis has been reported today, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 18 in J&K

As far as the fatality rate is concerned from the last two weeks the number of deaths too has shown a dip. On Wednesday, 17 fatalities were reported, 10 from Kashmir division and 7 from Jammu division. In the month of May, Jammu division reported a major percentage of fatalities reported in the UT.

As per the official details, 02 persons died in GMC Jammu, 01 GMC Rajouri, 01 in GMC Kathua, 01 in DH Kishtwar, 01 in DH Reasi, 01 in MH Satwari, 03 in SMHS Srinagar, 02 in SKIMS Soura, 01 in DH Pulwama, 01 in JLNM Hosp Sgr , 01 in GMC Baramulla, 01 in CHC Tangdhar & 01 in GMC Anantnag.

The number of positive cases detected on Wednesday was 1098 of which 324 positive cases were reported from Jammu division and 774 from Kashmir division taking the total tally of positive cases to 303749.

Srinagar reported 254 cases, Baramulla 54, Budgam 113, Pulwama 65, Kupwara 75, Anantnag 69, Bandipora 23, Ganderbal 41, Kulgam 64, Shopian 16, Jammu 97, Udhampur 22, Rajouri 46, Doda 41, Kathua 18, Samba 8, Kishtwar 10, Poonch 35, Ramban 37 and Reasi 10.

The number of recoveries again outnumbered the positive cases. On Wednesday, 3046 Covid-19 patients recovered – 944 from Jammu Division and 2102 from Kashmir, with it a total of 279779 people have recovered so far from this virus.
