Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh said that while communication with relatives across the Line of Control (LoC) is not illegal when done lawfully, a concerning portion of these families have been aiding drug peddlers and infiltrators.

"Out of these 100 families, five are actively involved in drug trafficking, and we have already registered cases against them. The legal process to seize their properties is currently underway," the SSP said.  While giving details of the war against drugs in Baramulla district, the SSP Baramulla said that, during 2024, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Baramulla Police arrested 249 individuals and seized properties worth Rs 4.5 crore, including 24 vehicles.
