Baramulla, Sep 18: The Horticulture Department of Baramulla today organised a one-day awareness-cum-training program under the CAPEX Budget 2025–26, aimed at disseminating information and modern practices in fruit cultivation.

As part of the initiative, 100 farmers from across the district were flagged off from Dak Bungalow in three buses to the Fruit Plant Nursery (FPN) Raipora, Ganderbal, where the main training sessions are scheduled. The flag-off ceremony was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Chief Horticulture Officer Baramulla, and senior departmental officers.

Speaking at the event, the ACR underscored the importance of capacity-building programs in empowering fruit growers with updated knowledge, modern techniques, and best practices in orchard management. He said such initiatives are crucial for strengthening the horticulture sector, which forms the backbone of the district’s economy.

The training will cover scientific orchard management, plant protection measures, soil health, and awareness of various departmental schemes. Experts from the horticulture department will provide hands-on guidance and interact with farmers to improve productivity and profitability.
