10-day folk theatre workshop to revive Bhand Pather organised

Budgam, Feb 26: Karambuland Folk Theatre Hanjigund Chadoora inaugurated a 10 days folk theatre workshop, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The workshop aims to revive the traditional Bhand Pather, with a special focus on enacting Chakdar Pather.

Under the expert guidance of renowned theatre activist Nisar Naseem, participants will undergo intensive training during the workshop period. The ultimate goal is to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the region through the medium of folk theatre.

The inaugural function was graced by the presence of young folk theatre activist Rayees Wathori, who emphasised the uniqueness of this workshop in nurturing new talent. Tahir Najar echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of providing opportunities for budding artists to hone their skills. Bashir Kotur also extended his congratulations to the organisers for their commendable initiative.

The workshop will culminate in a grand mega show, showcasing the culmination of the participants’ efforts and the rich cultural traditions of the Bhand Pather. President of Karambuland Folk Theatre, Ali Mohammad Bhat, underscored the collective commitment to preserving and promoting the folk theatre heritage of the region.
