1 killed in Banihal road mishap

Ramban, Dec 17: A truck driver died on spot whereas his helper was injured after a huge tree fell on a moving truck at Nachlana, Sherbibi area of Banihal on Srinagar- Jammu National Highway Tuesday evening.

Police sources said the huge tree fell on a moving truck bearing registration number JK03G-1677.

They said on getting information police and local volunteers reached the spot and retrieved the dead body of the driver from the badly damaged cabin of the truck and shifted it to the Sub District Hospital Banihal.

Police identified the deceased truck driver as Muzzamil Gul, 38, son of Ghulam Mohd Sheikh resident of Hillar Shahbad district Anantnag, Kashmir. The injured was identified as Owais Ahmed resident of Wandawalgam, district Anantnag. He was admitted at Sub District Hospital Banihal for treatment.

Sources said the tree on a hillock alongside National Highway caught fire in a stem and was uprooted and fell on the cabin of a moving truck.
