1 killed in Banihal road accident

Ramban, May 16: One person was killed in a road accident in Banihal today.

Police said that driver of a mini load carrier died after a vehicle he was driving skidded into a gorge in the Toll Plaza area of Banihal. The poultry laden TaTa, Mahindra bearing registration number JK19-0557 went out of control of its driver and plunged into a gorge resulting in one person receiving serious injuries.

On getting information from rescue teams of police, local volunteers rushed to the spot and removed the critically injured person from the badly mingled cabin of the vehicle and shifted him to Sub District Hospital Banihal where doctors declared him dead.

Police identified the deceased Bashrat Ahmed Matoo, son Gulam Mohammad Matoo, resident of Chachal, Banihal.

Police has registered a case at Police Station Banihal.
