1 killed, another injured in Marmat accident

Ramban, Mar 18: A police official was killed while a lecturer sustained critical injuries after a car in which they were traveling in, rolled down into a deep gorge on Khilani-Marmat link road near receiving station Marmat area of Doda on Monday.

Official sources said both government officials were heading towards District Headquarter town Doda to attend Lok Sabha election related meetings.

Police sources said a car bearing registration number JK06A-2389 skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge on Khilani- Marmat link road near Power Grid Station Goha, Marmat in Doda.

They said on getting information Police and locals rushed to spot and shifted both the critically injured persons Government Medical College and Hospital Doda where one person was declared as brought dead by the doctors.

Police identified the deceased Head Constable, Roshan Lal (46) son of Dina Nath resident of Roat , Marmat, Doda.

Police identified the critically injured lecturer as Tanveer Ahmad,(51) son of Faizullah Salaria resident of Marmat.

Officials said after providing medical aid critically injured Tanveer Ahmad Salaria was airlifted to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for specialized treatment.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Headquarters, Doda, Ajay Anand confirmed the incident and said a Police official was killed and a lecturer received critical injuries in this accident.

Earlier Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh and SSP Doda Javeed Iqbal personally monitored rescue operations in Doda.
